nice piece, tho you continue to do same mistake a lot with the rocks. did you know rocks are semi translucent?

oh and Im not fan of how rough the rock fourmations are and the somewhat non consistent lighting. dont look professional to me. you basically have no bounce light.

did you also know that the sky is a secondary light source? so in this scene the rocks in the shadow would recieve blue light from the sky and those in the light would recieve more of the actual color of the rock itself. so long the rock is of a warm color that is but if the main light is not of a warm color then your yellow grass makes no sense,

if the light is  strong you would recieve a more saturated orange on the rocks facing the main light.

Anyways I think your doing good, but you should work with those things. apply fundamentals correctly.

Or completely ignore that i said anything its up to you.

Ooh, neat: a comment that's actually uselful!

I'm aware of some of the things you pointed out - I just keep struggling to implement them in practise. Being able to produce professional-looking work is naturally a goal, but unfortunately only a distant one. I consider myself more of a hobbyist than an aspiring pro.
Here, the lighting definitely makes little sense. However, it is merely meant to look cool, not necessarily realistic and in my opinion makes a somewhat okay job on drawing attention to the "selling point" of the picture.

Anyhow, thank you for the thorough comment, zilvart! It's always good to receive proper feedback from time to time.

Hmm heres a tip planes facing the sky that is in the shadow reciece lighting on top plane and planes facing down recieve warm bounce light. I know its hard to implement we all struggled through this before. Maybe you should do master studies, from craig mullins for example.

Beautiful work on the fierce and evil queen as she leads her minions through the canyon. Terrific job on her form, textures, detail and especially her snarling expression as she tells them to hurry. Lovely work on the mountain scenery and the spookiness of so many Changelings buzzing around.
